Year arcana

Year arcana calculator: your tarot card for any year

Your year arcana is your tarot card for one whole year. It comes from your birth day and month plus the year you choose, so it changes every year. Type in your birth date and pick a year to see your card and what it asks of you.

The card of each year

How your card and the year's card work together

Every year has two cards for you. The year's own card, the digit sum of the year, is the same for everyone: it sets the climate, the kind of questions the whole year keeps asking. Your personal card is your part in that climate: the role you play, the strengths you lean on and the lesson that comes back to you. Read them as a pair. In 2027, for example, Justice asks everyone for fair terms and clear decisions, and someone whose card is The Star meets that demand with hope and a long-term plan.

How it is worked out

Write out the day and month you were born and the year you want to read, then add every digit. A 22 June birthday in 2027 gives 2 + 2 + 0 + 6 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 21, The World. A sum over 22 is reduced once more: 25 turns into 2 + 5 = 7, The Chariot. Exactly 22 is The Fool. Numbering follows the Rider-Waite deck, which puts Strength on 8 and Justice on 11. Whatever card comes out covers the whole calendar year, 1 January to 31 December.

Questions about the year arcana

Why can another site give my birthday a different year card?

Because two counting methods are in use. The digit method, used here, adds every digit separately: a 14 July birthday in 2027 gives 1 + 4 + 0 + 7 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 23, then 2 + 3 = 5, The Hierophant. Other calculators add the month number and the day to the full year, 7 + 14 + 2027 = 2048, which reduces to 14, Temperance, so pick one method and stay with it.

Is a Death year dangerous?

No. Death, arcana 13, stands for endings and transformation, never for physical death. It is the shared card of 2029, when the year asks everyone to finish what is finished, and in that year no birth date gives Death as a personal card.

Is my year arcana the same as my birth arcana?

No. Your birth arcana adds the digits of your full birth date, birth year included, and stays with you for life. Your year arcana uses the chosen year in place of your birth year, so it changes from one year to the next; comparing the two shows how your nature fits the year's task.

Does the year arcana match my personal year in numerology?

No. The personal year in numerology is a number from 1 to 9 in a nine-year cycle, while the year arcana is one of 22 tarot cards. Both start from your birthday and the year, but they reduce the sum differently, so the two numbers often differ.

Can two people have the same year card?

Yes. Everyone who shares your birthday, the same day and month, gets the same card in a given year, and so do other birthdays whose digits add up to the same total. What sets you apart is your birth arcana, which does include the year.
