Saturn return calculator: your dates, not the average ones
Just the date, no birth time: the days Saturn returns to where it stood when you were born.
What a Saturn return actually is
A Saturn return is the moment Saturn comes back to the exact degree of the zodiac it held when you were born. Your first return comes between 28 years 5 months and 30 years 5 months of age, never at 27, and the calculator above finds your own days.
What comes back is a position in the sky, not a date on the calendar. Saturn completes its circuit of the zodiac in 29.46 years, but not at a steady pace: for months of every year it slows down, stands still and moves backwards. That is why adding 29 and a half years to your birthday can miss the real return by up to a year.
A return is also different from Saturn passing through your Sun sign. From 13 February 2026 to 13 April 2028 Saturn is in Aries for everyone, yet only people born with Saturn in Aries have their return then, each on the day it reaches their own degree. What the return asks for is usually concrete: a fresh look at your work, your home, your money and your relationships, and a decision about which of them you want for the next 29 years.
Why yours has one date or three
About 62.8% of people get a single pass and 37.2% get three. The reason is Saturn’s retrograde loop: every year it stops, moves backwards over a stretch of the zodiac, stops again and carries on. If your natal degree lies outside that stretch, Saturn crosses it once, moving forward. If it lies inside, Saturn crosses it forward, backwards and forward again, and the whole return takes from 233 to 273 days, 260 at the median.
The three passes do different jobs. The first raises the subject; the second, made while Saturn moves backwards, sends you back over what the first left unfinished; the third settles it. With a single pass there is no loop to spread them out, so all three jobs fall on one crossing. In 2026 and 2027, every return for a natal Saturn between Aries 7°56′ and 14°45′ is built around Saturn’s 2026 retrograde, which runs from 26 July to 10 December 2026, all in Aries: the first pass comes before it, the second inside it and the third after it.
First return at 29, second at 59: what changes
The first return, due between 28 years 5 months and 30 years 5 months, usually settles two questions: what you do for a living and who you share your life with. It often lines up with the first responsibility that has no safety net under it, such as a lease in your own name, a team to run, a child, a business or a debt you repay alone. What shows afterwards is quieter than the reputation suggests: fewer options kept open just in case, and more weight on the ones you chose.
The second return comes between 58 years 4 months and 59 years 8 months, and its question is different: which parts of what you built you keep, and which you hand over or let go. The usual shift is one of role, from doing the work yourself to answering for the people who do it now, as the most senior person in a team, a parent of adult children or a grandparent. The number of passes can change from one return to the next: someone born on 5 May 1966 had one pass at the first return and three at the second. A third return, at about 87 to 89, is calculated here as well, for those who reach it.
What the three passes ask of you
- Before the first pass: the review usually starts months ahead, through a job, a relationship or a city you chose years ago and have not chosen again since. Write down which of them you would choose again for a whole Saturn cycle, and which you keep only out of habit.
- Between the first and second pass: Saturn stops, turns and moves back over your degree, so this is a stretch for revising, not for launching. Finish, repair and test whatever the first pass brought up before you add anything new to it.
- After the third pass: Saturn leaves your degree and does not cross it again for about 29 years. What you decided and kept through all three passes is built to hold for that whole cycle, so treat it as settled rather than reopening it every month. If something was dropped during the loop, let it stay dropped.
- With a single pass: mark the date and give it one serious decision rather than a list of small resolutions. One crossing is a full return, not a lighter version of it.
- What is not the return: a broken phone, a delayed flight or one bad week at work. Not every breakup between 28 and 30 is Saturn either. The return shows in long commitments, the ones you would still be carrying ten years from now, and it asks you to choose them on purpose.
Saturn return in each sign, and who was born then
Your natal Saturn sign sets the years of your return, because Saturn has to reach that sign again before it can reach your degree. Under each sign, the table lists the birth dates that put Saturn there and the period when their return falls.
Saturn return in Aries
The urge to act first and think later is what Saturn in Aries puts a brake on. Its return asks for one venture started on your own initiative and kept alive after the excitement fades: a business, a training plan, a move made without waiting for anyone’s approval. Temper belongs to the same lesson, since this return shows where anger has been doing the job that a clear, calm refusal should do. People with this placement often come out of it slower to start things and much harder to stop once they have.

Saturn return in Taurus
Security, for a Taurus Saturn, has to be built by hand rather than taken for granted. At the return, money and possessions turn into very concrete questions: what an hour of your work is worth, what you own outright, and what you hold on to only because letting go feels risky. A budget you actually follow counts for more here than any big purchase, and so does charging a fair price for your work without apologising. Growth under this Saturn is slow on purpose, and what it builds is meant to stay.

Saturn return in Gemini
Saturn in Gemini is strict about words and skills. It wants the course finished instead of started again, the application sent, the manuscript or the software actually released. Around the return, scattered talents usually get sorted: one is taken seriously and practised every day, while the others go back to being hobbies. Siblings, neighbours or old classmates may be owed a grown-up conversation that has waited for years. What this placement earns in the end is a voice other people rely on, because what you say finally matches what you do.

Saturn return in Cancer
With Saturn in Cancer, responsibility starts at home. If you did some of the caring early, as many people with this placement did, the return asks who carries that load now and how much of it is really yours. The practical side is plain: where home is and whose name is on the lease, whether you take on the care of a parent, which hours family can call. The deeper lesson is learning to comfort yourself without waiting for someone else to notice. A home run on those terms, even a small rented one, is what this Saturn counts as finished work.

Saturn return in Leo
Being seen for work you can stand behind is the Leo Saturn assignment. Waiting to be noticed gets this placement nowhere, so the return pushes finished work out under your own name: a portfolio, a show, a pitch, a book. Taking credit out loud, without false modesty, is part of the job. Applause starts to matter less than a standard you set for yourself. For some, the return also brings the question of children, having them or deciding not to, and the steady generosity that raising anyone takes. Pride becomes lighter to carry once it rests on something real.

Saturn return in Virgo
An ordinary Tuesday is the measure of everything for a Virgo Saturn. The return looks hard at routines: working hours, sleep and meals, the check-up you keep postponing, the jobs you do for others without being asked. Perfectionism is the trap to watch, because this Saturn wants a standard you can hold every week, not one you hit once and then burn out on. Handing in work that is good enough, and finished, is a skill to learn here. A craft learned properly, from bookkeeping to cooking to writing code, is what people end up knowing you for once this return is over.

Saturn return in Libra
Saturn works at its best in Libra, and its subject there is agreements between two people. What your partnerships rest on comes up for review: shared plans, or only the habit of staying. Engagements, marriages, business partnerships and separations are the typical decisions of these years, along with contracts signed with a landlord or a co-founder. The lesson is fairness that holds firm: agreeing on who pays for what, saying clearly what you will not accept, and keeping promises made to another person when the mood changes. A no said kindly and early spares everyone a much longer ending.

Saturn return in Scorpio
Joint money, debt, trust and control: a Scorpio Saturn deals with what is shared and what is kept hidden. Its return often arrives as paperwork, such as a mortgage in two names, a loan to clear or an inheritance, and as a frank talk about who owes what to whom. Emotionally, it asks you to stop testing people before you let yourself trust them. A secret that took real effort to keep usually weighs less once it is told to the right person. The strength this Saturn builds is the kind that no longer needs to control everyone else.

Saturn return in Sagittarius
A Sagittarius Saturn wants beliefs that hold up in practice. The return is a common time to finish a degree, qualify in a profession, actually move abroad instead of planning it, or step away from a faith, a mentor or a political home that no longer fits. Opinions borrowed from others give way to ones you can defend. The practical side runs through exams, residence permits, licences and anything else with fixed deadlines. Teaching what you know, formally or not, can start here as well. Freedom stays the goal; this placement simply learns that it keeps a timetable.

Saturn return in Capricorn
Capricorn is Saturn’s own sign, so here the return is felt mainly through career and standing. It often coincides with the first real authority: managing people, running a business, signing off on work that others did. The key question is whose ambitions you are carrying, your own or a parent’s. Titles matter less than being the person others check with before they decide. Rest is on the list as well, because this Saturn likes to treat exhaustion as proof of worth. What it aims for is a reputation built slowly, with limits you set yourself and keep without guilt.

Saturn return in Aquarius
In Aquarius, Saturn cares about the groups you belong to and what you owe them. Friendships get tested for whether they work both ways, and circles you only drifted into tend to fade without a scene. This is often when a role with real duties arrives, in a team, a union, a club or an online community. It is also a good moment to put long-range plans on paper: savings for later life, where you want to live in ten years, which cause gets your time. Being different is welcome here; being unreliable is not.

Saturn return in Pisces
People born with Saturn in Pisces often take on other people’s problems and call it kindness. The return asks where helping ends and rescuing begins, and it looks at the ways you escape, from endless scrolling to drinking to sleeping through hard days, asking for gentler habits in their place. A daily practice such as music, prayer, swimming or plain quiet gives this Saturn the structure it lacks. Time alone is not an indulgence for you but the maintenance that keeps you useful to others, and saying no to one more rescue is how that care starts.

How this is calculated
The calculator takes Saturn’s position at midday on your birth date, or at your birth time if you add it. It then scans the years around each multiple of Saturn’s 29.46-year period in three-day steps and narrows every crossing of that degree down to the hour. The squares and the opposition on the cycle strip are found the same way.
Saturn moves about 0.12° a day going forward and 0.08° going backwards, so a different birth hour moves each date by under a day. Passes close to a station are the exception and can move by two to four days.
Born on 20 March 1997: natal Saturn at Aries 8°57′. Saturn crosses that degree on 29 April 2026 moving forward, on 6 November 2026 moving backwards and on 13 January 2027 moving forward again.
Questions people ask about Saturn returns
When is my Saturn return?
Between your 28th and 31st birthdays: the calculator above gives the exact days. Enter a birth date and it lists every pass, one or three, with your age on each date. It also finds your second return, about 29 years later, and the next milestone of your Saturn cycle.
What ages does a Saturn return happen at?
The first one falls between 28 years 5 months and 30 years 5 months; it is never at 27. The second comes between 58 years 4 months and 59 years 8 months, and the third at about 87 to 89. Your exact age comes from Saturn’s position on your birth date, not from a fixed count of years.
How long does a Saturn return last?
One pass if Saturn crosses your point while moving forward, about 260 days if it crosses three times. A single pass is one day of exact contact. With three, the span from the first pass to the last ran from 233 to 273 days across the 852 birth dates we measured.
Why does my Saturn return have three dates?
Because your natal degree sits inside Saturn’s retrograde loop, so Saturn passes it forward, back, and forward again. This happens to 37.2% of people. The middle date comes while Saturn is moving backwards, which is why it so often reopens a question you thought the first date had closed.
Do I need my birth time?
No: Saturn moves under eight arcminutes in a whole day, so the dates shift by less than a day. A pass that falls near a station can move two to four days. On 0.8% of birth dates the hour decides between one pass and three, and then both versions are shown.
When is my second Saturn return?
Around 58 years 4 months to 59 years 8 months, roughly 29 years and 5 months after the first. It can have a different number of passes from your first return, because Saturn’s loops fall on different degrees in each cycle. Enter your birth date above and both returns appear together.
